Joan (Goldsmith) Gurfield won the Short Story Award from Gival Press and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She has had stories in Flying South 2020, a Chattanooga Writer’s Guild anthology, a Plymouth Writers’ Group anthology, Jewish Fiction, and Milestone, and other stories have been finalists in the Tucson Festival of Books Literary Awards, the New Millenium Review fiction contest, and the Chester Himes Competition (Kallisto Gaia Press). A longer piece was optioned for a feature film. .
She's been a professor of English and Creative Writing at East Los Angeles College (ELAC).
