Biography
Keith Bilderbeck began his film career as a sound effects
designer, winning an Emmy Award for his work on "Star Trek:
The Next Generation" and a Golden Reel Award for HBO's
"Vietnam War Story." Other sound effects editing credits
include the features, "The Santa Clause" and "Ferngully:
The Last Rainforest."
In the last few years, Mr. Bilderbeck has been in demand
as a composer for feature films. He recently completed
"Sweet Evil" starring Peter Boyle and Bridgette Wilson.
Directed by Rene Eram, the score evokes contrasting
feelings of innocence and fury and features the harp,
cello, piano, and soprano voices. Mr. Bilderbeck's
darkest score was for "Voodoo" with Corey Feldman,
combining driving African percussion with layers of
mysterious and visceral sounds.
Mr. Bilderbeck is from Florida, where he sang and
performed on piano and guitar in salsa and calypso
bands. Maashe, a steel drummer from St. Croix, taught
him the island rhythms which are descended from West
Africa. David Forrestier, percussionist with La
Solution, taught him the polyrhythmic intricacies of
Afro-Cuban music and Latin jazz. Mr. Bilderbeck's film
music often incorporates Caribbean rhythms and unique
vocal textures. He studied music composition with John
Boda at the Florida State University and graduated
Summa Cum Laude.
An interest in Russian folk lore has inspired
Mr. Bilderbeck to create musical programs based on
the stories of Baba Yaga, the Witch; Kosschay the
Deathless; and The Firebird, which can be sampled at
